When the Covid-19 Circuit Breaker measures were announced in Singapore, retailers had to shut their doors and our freelance promoters were out of a job overnight. The first thing our company owners and directors, How & Lia, asked was: What would happen to our freelance promoters who are now out of a job?
And so, our owners sprang into action.

1 week into the Circuit Breaker, we are now launching #TCcares.
This initiative aims to help close to 70 promoters and even ex-promoters who are struggling financially in this season—some of whom depend wholly on their freelance pay to sustain themselves. Some of their families are so severely affected that the entire family is struggling in this season.
Under the #TCcares initiative, recipients will receive a payout equivalent to 50% to 100% of their monthly pay, depending on how affected they are. These recipients include not just our current employed promoters, but even some of our ex-promoters who have stopped working but need help financially in this season.
So how is the initiative funded? What’s unique is that #TCcares is not only funded on a corporate level by the company. Full-time employees were also given the opportunity to be a part of this. On a Tuesday evening, the management called for a company-wide video conference and shared this initiative with them.
Employees were then told that they could play a part on an individual level by donating part of their Solidarity Payment from the government if they wished to. TC Acoustic would then match dollar-for-dollar every employee’s contribution. In this way, it is not just the company who is giving, but everyone in the company can show that they care too.
In fact, the passion and enthusiasm of every employee was so overwhelming that within four hours of the announcement, the full amount required was raised.
And the very next day, we told promoters and ex-promoters that despite Circuit Breaker, they were receiving 50-100% of their monthly pay through #TCcares. Some were moved to tears; many were speechless. All couldn’t believe what they had just heard.
Our company knew how important this payout would be to the promoters. For some of them, this job was their only source of income. So, instead of transferring the payout to them at the end of the month (when pay is usually given out), the first group of recipients received the payout on the very night they were informed.
Truly in TC, we are more than just a company or a business. We are a family. And in the words of our owners...
